Terra
Welcome to Terra. Terra was a project that me and a couple of friends worked on for the RSPB. The game was about a child's perception of pollution and natural disasters. We had 3 levels planned for it, each dedicated to an issue which we thought was important to talk about. These were Deforestation/Forest Fires, Plastic Pollution and Improper Waste Disposal. Unfortunately we only had enough time to work on the first level, however I still enjoyed the experience.
I was a level designer for this project. I designed the level for the game, and although we didn't have enough time to incorporate all of the mechanics which I wanted to make, I still enjoyed making the level. The green bits of the map are checkpoints, the red is enemies, the grey areas are underground and the blue are bridges. The game was a platformer, so I decided to make a tree branch platformer part at the end of the level, and since this level was supposed to show how deforestation and forest fires impact the environment, the tree branches wouldn't be stable and would fall if you're stepped on them for too long. I made the level layout in Maya as I thought it would make it easier to stick to a scale, meaning we could simply just export it directly to Unreal Engine and build over it, unfortunately, that didn't work out properly, so I just did a draw over and sent it over to my developer.
